What Alaska AI is

Alaska AI is a daily publication about the biggest technology shift of our lifetimes, told from the only place we would tell it from. AI is arriving in Alaska the way pipelines and railroads once did, as land leases, gas contracts, utility votes and federal solicitations. Alaskans deserve to see it coming, in plain English, with receipts.

Alaska AI is also a working AI studio. It builds agentic systems that run whole workflows end to end, along with digital employees, paperwork engines, assistants trained on a company's own files, and voice agents. All of it for Alaska businesses, statewide. That work lives on the services page. Writing the beat every morning is exactly why the studio knows what actually pays.

Who runs it

Alaska AI is founded and run by Talon Sturgill, born and raised in Anchorage. He is also the lead AI engineer for a large Lower 48 lab serving enterprise clients, work he does remotely. Alaska AI brings that expertise home to help Alaska businesses that rarely get access to it.

How the work gets verified

Every day Alaska AI works seven beats across the state, from power and compute to policy and money to what Alaskans are actually saying. Every number and quote is re-fetched from a primary source before it can appear on a slide, the docket, or this site, and each one carries its own claim record. Every deck's artwork is drawn fresh from code for its story. The same team maintains the Alaska AI Docket, a public tracker of every AI infrastructure decision in the state and whether the public gets a say in it, published as open data.

The rules we work by

The publication runs on receipts. The studio runs on four commitments, written down here so clients can hold us to them.

Your outcome outranks our invoice. The recommendation you get is what we would do in your seat with our own money. Sometimes that is a smaller build than you asked about, sometimes it is a hard call you have been putting off, and sometimes it is the honest no, that AI does not pay in your business yet. You get the same answer either way.

Plain talk, both directions. Bad news arrives early and in plain words. No soft versions, no jargon fog, no risk buried in an appendix. We ask for the same back, a client who tells us straight gets problems fixed while they are still small.

We guard the build, even from the brief. Most AI projects die of enthusiasm, the wrong first system, built too big, on data that was not ready. We watch that happen across an industry every morning, so we know where the road washes out before you can see it from inside your own operation. When the exciting ask and the right build disagree, we say so and steer. That judgment is most of what you are paying for.

You will not chase us. A note to this desk gets a reply within a business day and usually much sooner, a human reads everything and the machines are on shift around the clock. Speed is respect, and we expect it back. Slow answers stall more builds than hard problems do.
