The story
It binds every user of UA computing resources. Violations may subject employees to discipline up to termination, students to expulsion. The university's own policies page, last updated March 11th, 2025, says "UA System regulations are currently under development."
The rule in force governs where data goes. The public argument is about how people learn. Ben Shier, the Chief Information Technology Officer, told the regents the university assesses a tool against a data type and says where that data can and can't go.
